The Temple of Demeter in the village of Piatra is a unique site, steeped in history and creative energy, built from the ruins of an old hydroelectric station on the banks of the Răut River.
According to legend, the temple was erected by a group of shipwrecked Trojans who found refuge, fertile land, and peace in this region. In gratitude and reverence to the goddess Demeter, they built the temple in her honor. Though time, historical events, and natural disasters took their toll, the temple has stood the test of time, with its ruins still visible today along the Răut.
Its transformation from ruin to a vibrant space for cultural and community events illustrates the power of regeneration and creativity. Visitors can now enjoy live concerts, festivals, outdoor film screenings, and a variety of educational and artistic activities—all set in a breathtaking natural landscape.
